How to Make Watermelon Mint Granita

To make this delicious cool treat, you will need a food processor (or blender) and a strainer.

  1. Start by cutting off the rind & chunking up the watermelon.
  2. Puree watermelon, mint and lime juice in food processor.
  3. Strain juice, use spoon to help the liquid get through strainer.
  4. Pour into a metal pan and place in freezer.
  5. After 45 minutes, use fork to break up the frozen bits and stir around. Place back in freezer for another 45 minutes.
  6. Use fork to break up and stir again. Depending on how frozen it is, a third time may be required.

Bring on summer with this delightful cool treat. No added sugar just delicious frosty watermelon scooped in a dish or made into a drink. Keep yourself (and kids) hydrating with Watermelon Mint Granitaor make it into a slushie.

  • 10 cups Watermelon Chunks rind removed
  • 1 Lime juiced
  • Handful Mint leaves

Instructions
 

  • Place watermelon, lime juice, and mint in food processor. Blend until smooth and no watermelon chunks remain.
  • Pour into metal pan. Place in freezer for 45 minutes.
  • After 45 minutes, using a fork, scrape down the sides and break up any chunks of the watermelon puree. Repeat this process, freezing for 45 minutes and forking until your watermelon mixture is frozen into little flakes. Should only take 2 to 3 times of freezing.
  • Scoop into dish and enjoy with a spoon or add coconut water or seltzer water for a refreshing drink. This is also nice made into an adult beverage with a shot of your favorite booze and coconut water.
